The American Language Center offers customized preparation plans for most standardized tests. Our experienced tutors instruct students using the most up-to- date materials and creating an engaging learning atmosphere. The curriculum and the strategy are individually tailored to each student according to specific criteria, and we carefully match each student with the right tutor.
Our SAT and TOEFL* prep course blends both traditional classroom instruction with one-on-one tutoring. This approach allows students to get the best of both worlds. In the classroom, students get the hours of instruction to cover the content and general strategy necessary for success on the SAT and TOEFL*. As they are completing their classroom instruction, they meet one-on-one with their personal tutor so that they may further enhance their performance. In addition, students are able to attend extra help sessions, where they have the chance to further focus on specific areas of the test.
Of course, through the entire time the students are with us, they will take practice SAT and TOEF*L tests so that they see exactly how they are applying what they have learned.
Along with high school grades, standardized test scores are often considered one of the most important parts of a student's application.
SAT Reasoning Test
The SAT is officially called the SAT Reasoning Test. It consists of critical reading, math and writing sections and takes close to four hours to complete. (http://www.collegeboard.com)
SAT Subject Tests
These are one-hour tests measuring your knowledge of specific subject areas such as languages, math, sciences, and history. Students choose which tests to take. Most selective colleges require two (sometimes three) SAT Subject Tests in addition to the SAT reasoning test. These tests can be taken at any time during one’s high school career. Three tests can be taken at one sitting, but we recommend that students take one or two at a time.
The ACT test is a curriculum-based education and career planning tool for high school students that assesses the mastery of college readiness standards.
TOEFL iBT* Examination
TOEFL iBT* (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Used to evaluate English proficiency, most American colleges require the TOEFL* of students whose native language is not English (http:www.ets.org).L'Istituto Americano ha sviluppato una piattaforma di formazione "online" per la lingua inglese.
The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS™, is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, and was established in 1989. (http:www.ielts.org)
